Southampton Academy graduate Alfie Jones will improve his experience in the game having secured himself a loan spell out with League One side Gillingham for the 2019/20 campaign.
The 21-year-old defender has already gained senior experience during a loan spell with St Mirren in the first half of the 2018/19 campaign where he made 15 appearances in total north of the border, returning one goal, so it should be a decent spell for the young lad as he continues his development in the game and looks to be the next success through our Academy.

The centre-back will spend the year out with the Priestfield Stadium side and they’ll be looking to improve on their 13th place finish last season in the third tier following the appointment of Steve Evans as their new manager.
I think most agree the Gills will be a good place for him to get decent game time as at his age he’ll be hoping to impress next pre-season and make a stake for our first team squad if he can.
Good luck Alfie look after him Gillingham #gills

Was hoping this season to be his breakout season in #saintsfc. But if this aids his development, then I'm all for it.
Good luck, Alfie!— Mark Perez (@bookMark280712) July 2, 2019
Best of luck ????
